The Metro, Washington D.C.
It’s hard to imagine a transit system with a dramatic/spooky lighting scheme like this getting built today. More metros: Milan, Paris, Paris again.

Nice photos of the D.C. metro! The metro stations in D.C. are one of my favorite things to photograph because of the retro-futuristic architecture and the very moody lighting.

Very nice — Metro Center, I take it? (Or Gallery Place, I can’t tell…)
Did you get harassed by any of the Metro employees?

I lived in DC the whole time the Metro was being built — what a mess. And I left the city just after the very first lines were opened. I’ll never forget standing underground in those beautiful bizarre stations as the trains rolled in so quietly on rubber wheels.
    Anyway, nice shots!

DC Metro certainly has interesting architecture =) One of the few things I like about living in this area. Hope you’re enjoying your stay in DC!

    Really nice set.

mmmm… i love DC’s underground. so dark and dramatic. i have a theory that the lighting cuts down on the amount of sound that people are willing to make. i’m sure there’s prolly a study on it somewhere…

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Grayson: Metro Center and Dupont Circle and maybe somewhere else. No harassment. Does that happen?
    Rion: Good theory!

David: Oh yes, from time to time. There’s no ban on photography in the Metro system, but there are still some overzealous employees out there.
Just don’t eat in the Metro.
