Eddie Money Box Set is an ’80s karaoke band. This market niche was begging to be filled. (Pumpkin Man is a karaoke-ist, not a band member.)

Things you may have discovered already:

The “recent referrers” links have returned to the right column of this page because Sean turned his nifty script into a business venture. The service is $10 a year, or free if you can deal with little ads at the bottom. (More on the implications of backlinks.)

Also Photoblogs.org is back and better than ever, with a collaboratively filtered Top 100 list.

Mim* is a nice photolog from Tuscany.

A good place to walk in the middle of the street. See also 2.27.2002.

Speaking of walking: Morning News editor hikes the length of Manhattan, gets lost.

November 24 is National Cell Phone Number Liberation Day. I’m planning to switch my old number to a new carrier on that day and write a story about how it goes. If you’re also making the switch on the 24th and would like to help out with the story, please drop me a note. Also please pass this request along to anyone you know who has been itching to switch. Thanks.

These were taken with my new phone, which can also receive e-mail. Send it a message describing your current geographic location. Be specific.

Idea stolen from gmtPlus9.

I wrote a story for the NYT’s Circuits section about some personal cell phone trauma that, as of this moment, is still continuing: ‘Portable’ Number, Just Out of Reach. I’m trying to get the number from my old Sprint phone transferred over to my new T-Mobile phone, a maneuver that became possible on Monday thanks to new rules. So far this exquisitely automated process has taken 2.5 days.

About the accompanying photo: Yes, my old phone really is that big and ugly. No, those are not my hands.
